The University of Reading is ranked as one of the UK’s 10 most research-intensive universities and as one of the top 200 universities in the world.
We enjoy a world-class reputation for teaching, research and enterprise. Established as an extension college of Christ Church, Oxford in 1892, we received a Royal Charter in 1926, the only university to do so between the two world wars.
Important achievements include being the first university to win the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement (1989) and twice receiving the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher Education (1998 and 2006).
The quality and diversity of our research is recognised nationally and internationally, with a number of our researchers receiving awards for their work. We are home to several centres of excellence and conduct world-class research across a broad range of disciplines.
The Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 results confirm the standing of the University of Reading as a research-intensive university. Published in December 2008, the outcomes recognise over 87% of the university's research to be of international standing.
The work of more than 600 University of Reading research active staff was submitted to the Higher Education Funding Council for England for the RAE (88% of our eligible staff), demonstrating the breadth and quality of research across the university.

| Eurospeak Language and Computer school |
|
|
Eurospeak, founded 13 years ago, aims to help speakers of other languages achieve a level of English and/or IT skills that will allow them to live and work anywhere in the world where English is needed. We are a Cambridge exam centre so we can help our students pass Cambridge English and computer exams at various levels. We also run a special course that leads to an exam required by colleges and universities showing that their applicants have a sufficiently good knowledge of English to be able to follow courses of higher education in English (IELTS).
The school is in the centre of Reading, 5 minutes walk from the railway station and very close to the bus terminal. Our office is on the first floor of 45, West Street.

| ST JOHN AMBULANCE BERKSHIRE |
|
|
St John Ambulance exists to enable people to save lives, provide First Aid and care wherever needed and to encourage the personal development of young people. Facts: ** Three main services in Berkshire are First Aid, training and youth development opportunities. ** Over 500 volunteer members giving 40 thousand hours of time every year to help their community. ** 49% of volunteers in Berkshire are aged of 5 - 25. ** SJA works alongside the emergency services offering fast response medical assistance, responding to major incidents. ** Commitment to the personal development of young people ** Research has shown when children learn First Aid, the accident rate for children decreases. ** Children and young people are taught practical skills as Badgers (5¡V10 years) and Cadets (10¡V18 years) that will give them the confidence to act if faced with an emergency. ** First Aid is an 'inclusive learning experience" especially for those who may have learning or physical disabilities. ** St John takes extremely seriously its responsibility to keep its members safe, and has a robust detailed Child Protection policy which is rigorously monitored. ** In 2004, SJA launched a new programme for its young members, which is now being adopted at local level: ** Perennial favourites such as First Aid, fire-fighting, camping and caring for the environment have been updated, and are joined by new topics such as "Legal Eagle". ** The pace of the programme has also been changed so that it sits more easily alongside school commitments such as exams.
Based in Woodley, we have divisions and training centres across Berkshire including Wokingham, Ascot & Bracknell, Newbury & Thatcham, Loddon Valley, Maidenhead, Hungerford and Theale.
